Problem: I have a manufacturing purchase order that requires a learning curve analysis on labor. How do I do this in SpendLogic?
Learning curve analysis is available any time you develop a price analysis based on price history. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Start a historical price analysis.
2. When you get to the Basis Price screen, be sure to indicate the number of units that have been produced historically. (In this case, it was 1 unit, as shown below.)
3. On the Escalation screen, respond Yes to the first question that asks if you want to run separate escalation for Material and Labor. What this will do is tell the system how much labor is involved. This is important because Improvement Curves (aka Learning Curves) are applied only to the labor portion of cost.
4. You'll see that you now have an "Improvement Curve" step in the left-hand menu. Once you get there, input the curve slope that you want to use. In this case, we indicated that we wanted to use 85%.
That's it! You'll see that your analysis price (and Word Report) now reflect the results of a historical price analysis.
